Tubman African American Museum
Since 1981, the Tubman Museum has been dedicated to celebrating and educating people about African American art, history, and culture. It is the largest museum in the Southeast of its kind, becoming a key educational and cultural resource for the entire region. The Tubman Museum fulfills its mission through diverse exhibitions, innovative, educational programming, cutting edge technology and a host of special events throughout the year.
The current museum’s 8,500 square-foot building can no longer house the Museum’s growing collections, audience, and programs. Through generous donations from the community, the Grand Opening of a beautiful, new 49,000 square-foot museum is expected in late 2014.
